Do you love science and are you willing to share your enjoyment of science with girls? Then volunteer with the STEM program at Girl Scouts. If this interests you, read on to find out ways to help bring science, technology, engineering, and math to the girl scouts in your area.
The first thing to do is find out if your local council offers any type of programming in these areas. Who is their program or STEM coordinator? Give them a call or send an e-mail to let them know you're interested in volunteering to lead programs or help out in other ways. If they do not already offer STEM programming, find out how you can help get it started. It could be as simple as talking to the Program Director or STEM Specialist about getting some simple activities together and distributing to troop leaders. Or, it could be as big as helping to write a grant to get funding for a specific program like photography or laptops. Once you find the correct staff member to help you get started, you're on your way to bringing STEM to all the girls of your council.
