Garage Sales:

Shop at and hold garage sales--this is a great way to give new life to unwanted "stuff". It's also a great way to save money--or even make a bit!!

Rechargeable Batteries:

Buy rechargeable batteries and a battery charger instead of regular batteries. This is cheaper in the long run because you are not having to buy new batteries all the time, and creates less waste because you are not throwing batteries away when they are empty. You can even buy solar powered battery charges and not have to use electricity to charge them up!!

Avoid Trash:

Avoid creating trash wherever possible: when ordering food, avoid receiving any unnecessary plastic utensils, straws, etc. (ask in advance), buy ice cream in a cone instead of a cup, don't accept "free" promotional products, buy products with the least amount of packaging, etc. Every little bit of trash avoided does make a difference!

Shopping Bags:

While shopping, if you only buy a few products skip the shopping bag. For larger purchases, bring your own.
